High line - Tales of Chinatown

AAAAH!WEEKEND
| July 9, 2025 | 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM | High Line at 14th Street, New York, NY 10014 |

On a summer evening in New York, the High Line transformed into an open-air cinema for High Line Channel: Tales of Chinatown — Luka Yuanyuan Yang, closing event & special screening on the High Line with AAAAH CULTURE. Under the skyline, artist Luka Yang presented three documentaries — Mott Street Cantonese Opera, The Lady from Shanghai, and Chinatown Anecdotes. Each frame carried fragments of memory from the Chinese diaspora, spanning across generations and geographies.

The evening also featured a special talk by Chinatown Cha-Cha producer wangxiaolv, who shared behind-the-scenes stories, turning the screening into a dialogue about community, memory, and connection. Alongside the films and conversation, visitors could explore an art & design market, including merchandise inspired by Chinatown Cha-Cha and a wellness activation by New York Gogo Team.
